Katlyn Lavasseur, LMSW

The World can be overwhelming, especially in the last several years as we’ve faced many changes, uncertainty, new stressors, and loss of routine. Is it normal for life to feel heavy at times, especially during transitions and paths to healing. Often we find ourselves feeling stuck, perhaps wanting to make a change, but needing reassurance and guidance in a path forward. Maybe you find yourself in relationships patterns repeating. Or grieving a loved one, or situation, that feels too heavy of a weight to carry alone. One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned as a therapeutic practitioner is that we need validation in order to cultivate the power to make a difference in our own lives. Our society often pushes us to be hard on ourselves, creating a feeling of shame and impeding our confidence to allow for that shift away from what may no longer serving us. Friendship and family support is helpful, but the expertise and undivided, unbiased attention from a mental health practitioner allows exploration -not in what you are doing “wrong”, but to build upon what you are doing right! Together we will discover and aide to flourish your authentic self and create obtainable tools to incorporate YOU back into your life.

In my practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over five years in this field, I’ve had the privilege and honor to be along side adults, teens, and children experiencing grief, chronic and life limiting illness, anxiety, depression, lack of confidence and self-esteem, relationship issues, parenting, new life challenges, substance or behavior dependence, and anger management. In my therapeutic practice, I draw from a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution- focused, Narrative therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Drawing from a Holistic and Person-Centered approach, we explore and emphasize your strengths to achieve your individual goals. You’ve already made a critical step in your healing journey- by seeking guidance and, most importantly, validation in the next steps forward. This is your permission to take an hour for you, with the comfort and guidance from a professional that is dedicated to your healing journey.
