I look forward to meeting you and listening to your story! During counseling sessions you will feel valued, supported, and equipped to face the struggles of life. Together we’ll figure out how you can move forward, if you feel stuck, and reach your goals. We’ll use your strengths to overcome what may be holding you back, and holistic strategies for healing and growth. Whether dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulty, or some other issue, we can work together to develop solutions. As a therapist I offer you a fresh perspective, some new skills, guidance, and hope.
As a social worker for 26 years, I worked with families in the child welfare and criminal justice systems. I hold a Bachelors in Social Work from Calvin University and a Masters in Counseling from Cornerstone University. I have experience using a variety of counseling methods to help people of diverse backgrounds work through their struggles and transform their lives. Methods used most frequently include: Person-centered, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, trauma-informed, and play therapy.
I especially enjoy helping women discover their worth and develop their potential. For some people, drawing on spirituality and faith provides strength and hope when facing challenges in life. When requested, I can provide a Christian faith-based perspective for therapy.
I am open for scheduling individual (adults or youth), couples or family sessions, in person or virtual.
Change, even positive change, can be hard; partnering with a supportive counselor can make a difference! It would be a privilege to help you on your journey toward greater health, wellness, recovery, and purpose in life.
